'We have outstanding quality of players...': Mohammad Azharuddin backs India to defeat Pakistan in Asia Cup clash

India will be going up against arch-rivals Pakistan in Asia Cup on September 14. Though many have called for the match to be boycotted due to the tragic events that took place earlier this year, the game will be going ahead as planned. This will be the fourth meeting of the two teams in Asia Cup T20. The Men in Blue have a slender lead over their rivals when it comes to the head-to-head record with them having won two matches out of the three.

Though India are the favourites heading into the clash, it is expected that Pakistan will give them a tough fight. However, former India captain Mohammad Azharuddin feels that Suryakumar Yadav & Co. are good enough to come out victorious against the Men in Green.

"We have outstanding quality of players. We have great players. We already have players who are performing with distinction. The Pakistan team will find very hard to dislodge Indian team in this tournament because we have lot of experience. At the same time, the Pakistan team, they don't have the best players. They have dropped Babar Azam and (Mohammad) Rizwan so the team looks very depleted," Azharuddin told NDTV.

"But cricket is a game where we don't know what will happen tomorrow. But if you see the performance on paper over a period of time, the Indian team is very very strong," he added.

India's top performance against UAE

India started off their Asia Cup campaign on a high note and defeated hosts UAE by a comprehensive 9-wicket margin. The Men in Blue were totally dominant in both the batting and bowling fronts and gave a top-quality performance to show why they are being regarded as the favourites to win the continental tournament.

The Suryakumar Yadav-led side first bundled out UAE for a mere 57 runs and went on to chase down the modest target in just 4.3 overs. They completely controlled the match from start to finish and will be hoping to continue this sensational form in the clash against Pakistan as well. If India do manage to come out victorious in their upcoming clash, then they will stand on the cusp of qualification to the Super 4 stage.
