Sourav Ganguly to take charge as CAB president from September 22.

Former India captain Sourav Ganguly has filed his nomination for the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) presidential post, and the Sports Tak understands that he will be unopposed to be elected as the president of the state cricket Board for the second time.

Ganguly will be the sucessor of his brother, former cricketer Snehasish Ganguly, who is currently serving as CAB president, and becomes ineligible due to tenure rules. Ganguly, who also served as BCCI president from October 23, 2019, to October 18, 2022, will take charge from 22 September.

"Former Indian captain & former BCCI President Sourav Ganguly filed nomination for CAB (Cricket Association of Bengal) presidential post. Ganguly to be elected unopposed as President of CAB. To take charge officially from 22nd of September. This is Sourav Ganguly's second term as a CAB President" Sources told Sports Tak.

The former India captain also responded to the boycott calls for the India vs Pakistan clash. There are growing demands from fans to sever all sporting relations with Pakistan in the aftermath of Operation Sindoor.

"Sport is Sport. Rest I don't know" said Ganguly.

In the exclusive conversation with Sports Tak, Ganguly backed the Suryakumar Yadav-led side for the Asia Cup 2025 clash. Team India have already registered a dominating win in the tournament opener and will not face Pakistan in their second group stage clash. Ganguly called India a much superior team to Pakistan by calling the Men in Blue as favourites in all formats of the game.

The Asia Cup 2025 clash between India and Pakistan will take place on September 14 at Dubai International Stadium in Dubai. This will be the first cricketing outing between the neighbouring nations after Operation Sindoor. India last faced Pakistan in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 where Virat Kohli's unbeaten century helped the Men in Blue to register a one-sided six wicket win.
