An angry Babar Azam reacted negatively when a fan tried to click a selfie with him during the Pakistan match against India in the Asia Cup 2023 Super Four clash at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo on Sunday, September 10.
A video of the same, which has quickly gone viral on Twitter, shows Babar walking towards the dressing room while a fan relentlessly followed him and tried to take a selfie. Showing his frustration at the fan, the 28-year-old turned towards him and expressed his annoyance before the individual retreated.
Meanwhile, Babar were unable to counter India's opening batters in the ongoing Asia Cup edition as Shubman Gill and Rohit Sharma took the game to their fearsome pace attack. The dynamic duo smashed half-centuries and forged a commanding 121-run partnership for the first wicket.
The start of the game was all about Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill, who batted exceptionally against the quality pace attack of Pakistan. The Indian captain scored his 50th half-century in ODIs after Shubman brought up his fifty. The duo registered a 121-run stand in 100 balls before Shadab Khan dismissed the Indian skipper. Rohit departed after scoring 56 runs off 49 balls with the help of six fours and four sixes.
Shaheen Afridi dismissed Shubman in the very next over as he outfoxed the Indian batter with a slower delivery. The right-handed batter departed after scoring 58 runs off 52 balls with the help of 10 fours.
