Australian cricket sensation, Steve Smith, is brimming with confidence and feels like "a million bucks" as he gears up for the forthcoming ODI against India. After a rigorous two-hour net session, Smith's enthusiasm is palpable, signalling a strong comeback after his wrist injury.

The 34-year-old maestro had suffered a tendon tear in his left wrist during the second Ashes Test at Lord's. This injury came right after he delivered a stellar performance, scoring a match-winning 110 in the first innings. Despite the setback, Smith's recent net session saw him face off against Australia's captain, Pat Cummins, who is also making a return post a wrist injury.

Sharing his experience, Smith told cricket.com.au, "I faced Patty (Cummins) for a bit, felt good against him, faced quite a bit of spin and lots on the 'wanger', so it's a good start." He further elaborated on his recovery process, saying, "I did lots of running, I was still able to do that when I had the brace on. I got the brace off, not much changed, had a little injection and feel a million bucks now." The severity of his injury had necessitated the use of a wrist brace, causing Smith to sit out the white-ball tour of South Africa.

The former Australian captain, who had previously relied on a cortisone injection to see him through the Ashes, revealed that he needed another shot to ensure his fitness for the imminent three-match ODI series against India. "A few days after my needle I started to feel good. I was just wary with some catching stuff, landing, then I was taking it easy. But it feels good and I'm ready to go," Smith confidently stated.

Smith also shed light on Cummins' condition, who had sustained a minor fracture in his wrist. He mentioned that Cummins appeared in good form during their practice sessions. "He just had a little gallop, a trial run. He's cruising into it and I'm sure he'll be good for the first game," Smith concluded, hinting at a promising start to the series for the Australian side.
