Australian team has suffered a big blow as their star batter David Warner has been ruled out of the second Test against India with concussion. On the opening day of the second Test between India and Australia in Delhi on February 17 (Friday). Warner was hit on the helmet and the elbow off a bouncer from Mohammed Siraj during his sluggish 15-run knock. The star southpaw will be assessed by team medical staff.
He endured a difficult, and at times, torturous 15-over stay at the crease, taking 22 balls to get off the mark.
After Australia were all out for 263, Warner did not come out to field during the Indian innings. A Cricket Australia spokesperson said that the veteran opener was feeling unwell following repeated blows to his body while batting.
Meanwhile, Matthew Renshaw is expected to replace Warner in Australia's Playing XI for the remainder of the second Test. However, the subbing is expected to be finalised later when the teams arrives at the Arun Jaitley Stadium for the game on Day 2.
After the close of Day 1, Australia's star opener Usman Khawaja in the post match presser said,“The medical staff will have to assess tomorrow, he is a little bit weary at the moment. He got a knock to the arm and then the head, I think the head made him a little bit weary at the moment and couldn’t come out to field. The staff will have to figure out what happens from here".
