India veteran all-rounder Ravichandran Ashwin is part of the Rohit Sharma-led Indian squad for the first Test match scheduled to be played on September 19 at MA. Chidambaram (Chepauk) Stadium in Chennai. Najmul Hossain Shanto-led Bangladesh have also arrived in Chennai for the two-Test match series. Bangladesh will be confident as they are coming to India defeating Pakistan in the two-Test match series. The side will now look to repeat the same against Men in Blue.
On the other hand, India's last red-ball outing was against England on their home ground earlier this year. This will be Ashwin's first international outing since the England Test series at HPCA Stadium in Dharamsala. Ashwin has picked up 516 wickets in his 100 Test appearances for India. The veteran spinner will look to break a plethora of records in the upcoming Test series against Bangladesh.
Most Wickets in World Test Championship (WTC): With 174 wickets from 35 WTC matches, Ashwin needs just 14 more to break Nathan Lyon’s record of 187 wickets and become the all-time leading wicket-taker in WTC history.
