Miraz's impressive performance marked his tenth five-wicket haul in Test cricket, while pacer Taskin Ahmed contributed with three wickets. Saim Ayub and Agha Salman made significant contributions to Pakistan's innings with their fifties.
Bangladesh captain Najmul Hossain Shanto won the toss and elected to field first. The match was delayed due to rain, but once play resumed, the Tigers made a strong start, dismissing Abdullah Shafique early on. However, Pakistan took control of the first session, with Saim Ayub and captain Shan Masood forming a solid partnership. Masood reached his half-century before the lunch break.
Bangladesh continues dominance
Bangladesh's momentum continued after the lunch break, as Mehidy Hasan Miraz dismissed Shan Masood (57) leg before wicket. He then quickly dismissed Saim Ayub, who scored 58 runs before being stumped.
Saud Shakeel's innings was short-lived, as he was bowled by Taskin Ahmed for 16 runs. Shakib Al Hasan trapped Babar Azam leg before wicket before the tea break, with Babar scoring 31 runs.
Mohammad Rizwan, who had troubled Bangladesh in the first Test, was unable to make a significant impact in this innings. Pacer Nahid Rana restricted him to 29 runs. Mirzar took the remaining three wickets to complete his tenth Test five-wicket haul, further solidifying Bangladesh's dominance in the match.
Bangladesh's Small Lead
Taskin Ahmed contributed three wickets to Bangladesh's bowling effort, while Shakib and Nahid shared the remaining two wickets. In response, Bangladesh reached 10 runs without losing any wickets in 2 overs before the close of play on Day 2. Shadman Islam and Zakir Hassan are at the crease. Bangladesh still trails by 264 runs.
