The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has announced the squad for the upcoming T20I series against West Indies which is scheduled to start from December 16. Notably, Veteran batsman Litton Das has been named as the captain of the side, replacing the injured Najmul Hossain Shanto. Shanto has been ruled out of the series due to a groin injury and was also absent from the Test and ODI squads.

Mehidy Hasan Miraz was appointed as the captain for the Test and ODI series against the West Indies, while Litton Das will lead the team in the T20I series in the absence of Najmul Hossain Shanto.
The selection committee has included several new faces in the T20I squad. Ripon Mondol has earned his maiden call-up, while Afif Hossain, Soumya Sarkar, Nasum Ahmed, and Shamim Hossain have made their return to the team. Meanwhile, the future of seasoned all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan remains uncertain, with no official updates regarding his availability for the upcoming T20I series. Mahmudullah has retired from T20Is, and players like Towhid Hridoy, Mustafizur Rahman, Shoriful Islam, and Rakibul Hasan are also absent from the squad.
Regular captain Shanto is still recovering from a hamstring injury sustained during the Afghanistan series.

Bangladesh and West Indies are currently engaged in a three-match ODI series. The West Indies have taken an early lead, winning the first match by 5 wickets. Following the conclusion of the ODI series, Bangladesh and West Indies will face off in a three-match T20I series, scheduled to take place on December 16th, 18th, and 20th.
ICC slaps West Indies' Alzarri Joseph with hefty fine
West Indies fast bowler Alzarri Joseph has been fined 25 per cent of his match fee for using offensive language during the first ODI against Bangladesh. The incident occurred during an exchange with a match official before the start of play.
Joseph was found to have breached Article 2.3 of the ICC Code of Conduct, which relates to the use of audible obscenities. In addition to the fine, he has also been awarded one demerit point. This is his first offense in the past 24 months. The decision was made by on-field umpires Kumar Dharmasena and Leslie Reifer, third umpire Asif Yaqoob, and fourth umpire Gregory Braithwaite. No formal hearing was deemed necessary as Joseph admitted to the offense and accepted the proposed penalty.
