When Virat Kohli plays for India in their final league stage match of the 2025 Champions Trophy, he will make history and set a significant record. On Sunday, March 2, the Men in Blue will play New Zealand. It is a dead rubber for both sides, who have already advanced to the semi-final. At the top of the points table will be the victorious squad.

South Africa and Australia have advanced to the next round from Group B. The Three Lions are no longer in the competition. It has been confirmed that India will participate in the first semi-final on March 4.

Kohli set to create massive record

As the first player to play 300 ODIs, 100 Test matches, and 100 T20Is, Virat Kohli is poised to break a new world record. Virat has participated in 125 T20Is, 123 Test matches, and 299 ODIs. In 2008, he played his first ODI match against Sri Lanka. In 2010, Virat solidified his place in the starting lineup, and he has not looked back since.

In 2012, Virat assumed leadership of India, and in 2013, he made his debut as an ODI captain. In January 2017, he took MS Dhoni's place as India's white-ball captain. In 2011, Virat played his first Test match against the West Indies.

After his first series, he was dropped, and when he returned, he didn't get a chance upon his return. Virat cemented his place in the playing XI with his performances in the final two Australia Test matches in 2011–12. In 2014–15, Virat took over as India's Test captain. He guided the squad to 40 victories from 68 games and ended his tenure as India's most successful Test captain.
