WATCH: Massive security breach in Pakistan, fans climb over stadium walls to witness stadium's inauguration ceremony ahead of Champions Trophy 2025

The upcoming Champions Trophy 2025 will be a big boost for Pakistan as they are hosting an International Cricket Council (ICC) event. This is the first time since 1996 that the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) will host an ICC event. Pakistan last hosted an ODI World Cup alongside India and Sri Lanka. 

PCB are currently inaugurating their revamped stadiums that will host the matches of the Champions Trophy. The Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore and the National Stadium in Karachi were inaugurated during the ODI Tri-Series involving Pakistan, New Zealand and South Africa. 

Champions Trophy 2025 will be played in a hybrid model as the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) denied sending Team India to the neighbouring nation citing players' safety. However, PCB promised ICC the safety of teams featuring in Pakistan during the Champions Trophy. Now, a lot of clips are going viral on social media raising questions about security. 

In the viral clips, fans can be seen climbing over the stadium walls and fences to witness the opening ceremony. As per the viral post, the ‘invasion’ was being done on the VIP section of the stadium- talk about ‘special treatment’ for ‘very important persons’!. Sports Tak doesn't confirm the authenticity of the clips. 

Champions Trophy 2025 will be played in a hybrid model where matches featuring India and one of a semifinal will take place in Dubai and Pakistan's Lahore, Rawalpindi and Karachi will host the rest of the tournament. The marquee event is scheduled to start from February 19 and the final will take place on March 9. The venue for final also depends on India's performance, if India manages to qualify for the title decider it will take place in Dubai. Otherwise, the mega event will take place in Pakistan.
