Rohit Sharma-led India won all their group stage matches in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 and now they will face Australia in the semifinal of the mega event which is scheduled to take place on March 4 at Dubai International Stadium in Dubai. India captain Rohit Sharma believes that Australia are a great opponent to play against in a knockout clash.
Rohit said that India's approach will be the same while facing Australia in their do-or-die clash, accepting that Australia are a great team to play. Rohit believes that the pressure will be on Australia as well to win the clash.
"No, look, it's a great opposition to play against. All we had to do is what we've been thinking about last three games. And we have to approach that game in a similar fashion. We understand the opposition and how they play and stuff like that. But I think the more and more we focus on what we need to do as a group, as a player, as a batting unit, as a bowling unit, that helps us a lot. I said it, yes, but look, Australia have been such a great team over the years. So, we will expect some fight backs. We will expect some nervous times as well in the middle. But that is how the game is being played these days. And you're talking about semifinal," said Rohit while addressing media before Champions Trophy semifinal.
Rohit believes that India will beat Australia if the Men in Blue do everything they want to do. India are the only team in the Champions Trophy 2025 who played and won all their matches so far.
"Obviously, the pressure will be on both teams to win that game. But I think it's important for us to just keep focusing on what we need to do, keep doing our things and keep doing those things right. And then the result will come if we keep doing the things that we are supposed to" Rohit added.
Australia have played just one game in the mega event as their two league stage matches against South Africa and Afghanistan ended without a result. Steve Smith-led side won their opener clash against Ashes rivals England.
