India pacer Akash Deep who got injured during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 will most likely to miss the upcoming white ball series against England scheduled to start from January 22. Akash Deep who is yet to make his debut in T20Is or ODIs, is not expected to be available for selection for the five T20Is. 

According to a report by Cricbuzz, the pacer missed the fifth and final Test against Australia for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy due to back pain and is expected to be out of action for at least a month. The report suggests that he will head to the National Cricket Academy, which has been renamed the New Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru, after the one-month period.

If he is fit for selection then the Bengal-based pacer was the ideal contender to feature in T20Is against England in the absence of senior fast-bowling duo, Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj.

The senior duo is also expected to be out of action for the upcoming T20Is against England. The two bowled over 150 overs each in the tour Down Under and need to ensure sufficient rest to ensure their fitness for other important games like the Champions Trophy.

However, there are report further added that veteran pacer Mohammed Shami will likely to make his international comeback in the England series before the Champions Trophy.

India will play five T20Is followed by three ODIs against England and that will be the last assignment for Men in Blue before the Champions Trophy 2025 which is scheduled to start from February 19. The Champions Trophy 2025 will take place in Pakistan and Dubai where India matches will take place in Dubai. India will play their Champions Trophy 2025 opener clash against Bangladesh on 20 February.
