Highlights:

Ravindra Jadeja was the top-scorer for India in the first innings with an 87-run knock.

Jadeja was run out by England captain Ben Stokes in the fourth innings.

The wicket of Ravindra Jadeja was not just the turning point of India’s run chase in Hyderabad but could prove to be the turning point of the series as well. Jadeja was run out as Ben Stokes pulled off a direct hit to catch him short of the crease at the non-striker’s end. The direct hit left Jadeja struggling with his hamstring and now he is doubtful for the second Test which will be played in Visakhapatnam starting February 2.

Head coach Rahul Dravid in the post-match press conference did not reveal details but confirmed that Jadeja is struggling and he will get to know about it from the team’s physio.

"We'll see. I honestly haven't had a chance to speak to the physio as yet. Once I get back, I'll speak to him and see what it is about," Dravid told the media.

With just four days to go in the second Test, Jadeja may take longer to recover.

On Day 4, Jadeja was dismissed for just two runs in India's failed run chase of 231. When Jadeja departed, India were 119/6. Without adding a run to the score Shreyas Iyer departed as well which pushed India on the back foot and helped England dominate.

Earlier, Jadeja had taken five wickets in the Test. He was expensive in the second innings as Ollie Pope asserted dominance with his 196-run knock. He was impressive with the bat as well. The southpaw scored 87 runs from 180 deliveries featuring seven fours and a couple of sixes. His half-century helped India post 436 and take a 190-run lead.

Dravid was disappointed with how India failed to capitalise in the first innings and missed out on putting more pressure.

"I thought we left probably 70 runs on the board in the first innings. Conditions were good to bat on day two and got some good starts but we didn’t really capitalise. We didn't get a 100, you know, a really big hundred. The second innings is always going to be challenging," Dravid said.
