Rohit Sharma scored 2 runs in first ODI against England.

Team India beat England by four wickets in 1st ODI against England.

Former India cricketer Sanjay Majrekar believes that Rohit Sharma would be disappointed with his dismissal in the first ODI against England at VCA stadium in Nagpur. He also reckons that the India Test and ODI captain is currently under pressure. Rohit's struggle continues as he got dismissed after scoring just two runs in the ODI against Jos Buttler & Co.

The ongoing three-match white ball series is the last assignment for Team India before the Champions Trophy 2025. Manjrekar further opined that ODIs is the best format for a player to get back to form and that if Rohit fails to do so in the India vs England series or Champions Trophy, then it would be a problem.

“He’ll be disappointed with the way he got. Clearly there is pressure. If in 50-over cricket he struggles to get runs or get a big score then we have a problem. I maintain that this is the best format for any batters, batting in the top three, to get runs and come back into form. If we don’t get to see the best of Rohit in this 3-match series and Champions Trophy, then there is a problem, Manjrekar said.

However, despite Rohit's flop show India defeated England by four wickets to take 1-0 lead in the three-match ODI series. India vice-captain Shubman Gill (87), Shreyas Iyer (59) and Axar (52) helped India to chase 249 runs in first ODI. Gill was awarded Player of the Match for his iconic knock.

Earlier, Harshit Rana (3/53 from 7 overs) and veteran spinner Ravindra Jadeja (3/26 from 9) helped India to bundle out the visitors for a below-par 248.

India and England will now lock horns against each other for the second T20I which will take place on February 9 in Cuttack.
