Former England cricket superstar, Kevin Pietersen, has spotlighted Harry Brook's exceptional potential for the upcoming ODI World Cup 2023. Following Brook's electrifying century during a match in England's 'The Hundred', Pietersen confidently took to X, the platform formerly known as Twitter, to share his prediction.
"My view - Harry Brook will play in England's first game at the CWC!" he proclaimed.
Harry Brook's stunning performance for Northern Superchargers, where he racked up a swift 105 from just 42 deliveries, though awe-inspiring, couldn't lead his team to a win. Despite the team's defeat, the magnificence of Brook's inning couldn't be overshadowed, further fueling the conversation around his capabilities.
Pietersen's recent endorsement isn't the first time he has expressed his admiration for Brook. He previously voiced his bewilderment regarding Brook's absence from England's 2022 World Cup squad.
"I'm absolutely flabbergasted that [Brook] cannot make England's World Cup squad because he is pure quality. I just cannot believe it," he shared in an interview with Sky Sports.
Elaborating on his observations, Pietersen recounted his first impression of Brook: "I saw this guy at Headingley two years ago when The Hundred took off and I immediately saw a superstar. I saw someone playing 360, who could hit the same balls over extra-cover or midwicket."
Brook's exclusion from the primary lineup might have been influenced by his inconsistent performance in the Indian Premier League. Despite showcasing a glimmer of his talent with a century for SunRisers Hyderabad in the 2023 season, he couldn't hold onto his form consistently. Nonetheless, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has kept options open by placing Brook in the preliminary World Cup squad's reserves.
