Former Pakistan captain Mohammad Hafeez has a suggestion for the International Cricket Council (ICC). Hafeez wants the spidercam technology to be used to show the result of the coin toss by zooming in on the coin. While Hafeez did not question the credibility of the match referee, he wants the viewers to get more clarity about which side the coin has landed.

Hafeez also recalled his strange request to ICC’s tournament director during T20 World Cup 2012 where Pakistan were eliminated in the semi-final by winners West Indies.

“In 2012, I was the captain of Pakistan team in World Cup. I requested the ICC tournament director that ICC should show the coin toss through spider cam for more clarity,” Hafeez said on PTV Sports.

“Normally, when they toss the coin, it goes 5-10 metres away from you. I am not trying to question anybody’s credibility but the coin should be shown to fans for more clarity. Rather than the match referee goes towards the coin and calls whether it is heads or tails.”

Earlier, before Babar Azam-led Pakistan's clash against Afghanistan, the 43-year-old had raised questions about the pitch at MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai.

"The pitch used for India and Australia has been used today too. The match is coming soon, you will realise with time. The pitch will be used only for that one occasion, and not before that", he said.

Pakistan ended up losing to Afghanistan by eight wickets, their first-ever defeat against them in ODIs. After the loss, many have criticised Babar for his captaincy while Afghanistan cruised towards the target.

Pakistan are currently placed fifth on the points table with three losses from five games. They will face in-form South Africa in their must-win encounter at the same venue on October 27. Pakistan can still qualify for the semi-finals but it will depend on a few permutations and combinations. After facing South Africa, they will take on Bangladesh at Eden Gardens, Kolkata on October 31 followed by New Zealand in Bengaluru on November 4 and defending champions England on November 11.
