In his message, Yuvraj Singh reminisced about the time when Virat Kohli first burst onto the national cricket scene. He highlighted how everyone in and around the Indian team knew from the beginning that Kohli was destined for greatness.
"When you joined the team as a youngster who was eager for opportunities and hungry to perform, it was clear to everyone that you were destined for greatness. You've not only made a mark for yourself but have also inspired countless others to strive for excellence," Yuvraj Singh wrote in his post.
"As you celebrate another year of breaking and setting records, take a moment to reflect on all that you've achieved. Proud to have shared this incredible journey with you, and to see you grow from strength to strength," Yuvraj further added in his post on Instagram.
Yuvraj and Kohli had the privilege of sharing the ODI World Cup triumph in 2011, where Yuvraj Singh's exceptional all-round performances earned him the Player of the Tournament award. Kohli, even in his early days, contributed significantly with 282 runs from 9 games, including a century against Bangladesh.
Now a senior member of the Indian cricket team, Virat Kohli continues to maintain stellar form. He currently leads the charts as the top Indian run-scorer in the 2023 World Cup. Kohli's desire to guide India to another ODI World Cup triumph is evident, and if India secures victory in this edition, he will make history by becoming the first player with two ODI World Cups to his name. The achievement would underscore his status as one of the greatest batters in the history of Indian cricket.
As Kohli steps onto the field on his birthday, Indian cricket fans are eagerly watching to see if he can lead the team to another memorable World Cup victory, cementing his legacy as one of the game's all-time greats.
