Jasprit Bumrah hasn't played a T20I since T20 World Cup 2024 final.

Bumrah was rested for two out of five Tests on England tour.

AB de Villiers believes selectors have managed Bumrah well.

South Africa's legendary batter AB de Villiers has predicted that India's pace-bowling spearhead Jasprit Bumrah will not play all games of the T20 Asia Cup 2025 as part of his workload management.

“Great to see him in the squad, fit and ready to go. I don’t think he will play all the games,” de Villiers said on his YouTube channel.

“I saw reports saying he will be earmarked for the games that matter and I love that about the selectors being proactive. That’s how you should be managing your senior and most impactful players,” he added, while lauding the selectors.

Bumrah played three Tests on England tour as part of his workload management. He was criticised for missing the fifth and final Test of the series. But, De Villiers believes that senior guys should be managed well to help them stay at the top of their game.

“It’s not like they are picking and choosing. There’s just so much cricket these days. For your older guys, their work has taken its toll over the years. Once you start managing these players, you will get the best out of them, and I love it that they’ve started doing that with Jasprit Bumrah,” he further added.

Bumrah's last T20I appearance was against South Africa in the T20 World Cup 2024 final. He was named 'Player of the series' for taking 15 wickets from eight games at an average of 8.26. His economy rate was a record-breaking 4.17 runs per over.
