Prithvi Shaw looks like a man on mission, a mission to make a comeback to Team India's fold. In preparation for the 2025-26 domestic season, Prithvi Shaw continued his impressive form in the ongoing Buchi Babu Trophy for his new team, Maharashtra. Shaw, who recently left his native Mumbai, registered another fifty-plus score, showcasing his readiness for the upcoming season.

Responding to TNCA President's XI's first-innings total of 384/9, Maharashtra had a rocky start, losing captain Siddhesh Veer early. Shaw then stabilised the innings, first with Sachin Dhas in a 47-run partnership for the second wicket, followed by a crucial 94-run stand with Harshal Kate for the third wicket. Shaw, who began the third day on 47, reached his half-century with a confident three-run punch off the first ball. He was eventually dismissed for a well-made 96-ball 66 by CV Achyuth. Shaw's knock was decorated with nine fours.

After Shaw's dismissal, Maharashtra's innings faltered, and they quickly found themselves in trouble at 188/8. A late partnership of 33 runs between Siddharth Mhatre and Hitesh Walunj provided some resistance, but the team's struggles were evident. As of this report, Maharashtra stands at 223/9, with Walunj and Pradeep Dhadhe at the crease. This half-century marks Shaw's second in just three innings since his move to Maharashtra.

Earlier, Shaw delivered a brilliant performance against Chhattisgarh, scoring a century on a difficult turning track. He made 111 off 141 balls, a striking contrast to the rest of the Maharashtra team, who collectively managed only 92 runs. Despite his dominant first-innings century, Shaw was dismissed for just one run in the second innings, and Chhattisgarh ultimately won the match by 35 runs. Shaw's recent career has been marked by challenges, including being left out of the Mumbai team in 2024 due to fitness and disciplinary issues. These problems also contributed to him going unsold in the IPL 2025 auction. Before playing for Maharashtra, Shaw featured for the North Mumbai Panthers in the Mumbai T20 League.

“I don’t mind starting from scratch again because I’ve seen many ups and downs in my life. And I’ve been up there, I’ve been down there and I’ve come back up there. So, everything is possible, I feel. I’m kind of a very confident guy, confident in myself and my work ethic. I feel and I hope that this season will go really well for me as well as for my new team," Shaw was earlier quoted as saying by ESPNCricinfo.
