This remarkable feat took place during the 2023 World Cup match against Temba Bavuma's South Africa at the renowned Eden Gardens in Kolkata.

The 35-year-old cricket sensation from Delhi now boasts an impressive tally of 119 scores of 50 or more in ODIs. He is second only to the legendary Sachin Tendulkar, who holds the top position with 145 such scores. Kohli's international cricket career, spanning 15 years of representing India globally, showcases a remarkable 215 scores of 50 or more.

Virat Kohli is now just two 50-plus scores away from equalling former Australian cricketer Ricky Ponting, who has accumulated 217 of these scores. Sachin Tendulkar continues to reign supreme with a remarkable 264 scores of 50 or more in international cricket.

Kohli's exceptional performance in the World Cup 2023 allowed him to achieve several milestones in a single day. He joined the elite company of Indian batters, following the footsteps of Tendulkar and Rohit Sharma, by amassing over 500 runs in a single edition of the World Cup. Tendulkar had achieved this feat in 2003 and 2011, while Rohit Sharma emerged as the leading run-scorer in the 2019 World Cup.

In his fourth World Cup appearance, Kohli reached this remarkable milestone, solidifying his status as one of the greats. Additionally, he became only the second Indian batter after Tendulkar to accumulate over 3000 runs against South Africa at the international level.

Kohli's incredible form in the ongoing World Cup was further highlighted by his composed performance, as he achieved his fifty off 67 balls and continued to anchor the innings after the quick dismissals of Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill.
