The captain's heartfelt message, shared on the social media site Instagram in the aftermath of the World Cup final loss, read, "You gave it your all. Harmanpreet, celebrated for her leadership and record-breaking feats, has been a central figure in the realm of Indian women's cricket. Noteworthy among her achievements is the distinction of being the first Indian woman to achieve a century in a Women's Twenty20 International, along with holding the record for the highest runs in an innings by a woman in a World Cup match.
India played their fourth ODI World Cup final in 2023, aiming to get revenge for their defeat in the 2003 final. Unfortunately, Rohit’s team couldn’t dash Australia's dominant performance in Ahmedabad. They entered the final on the back of a 10-match winning run, defeating every team in the ODI World Cup 2023.
Meanwhile, Australia, who lost their first two matches against India and South Africa, went on an eight-match winning streak to reach the final.
With this victory, Australia raised their record-extending sixth ODI World Cup trophy at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

Rohit Sharma unleashed a flurry of boundaries before being dismissed by Glenn Maxwell for 47 runs off 31 balls. KL Rahul emerged as the top scorer for India contributing a patient 66 runs off 107 balls, while Virat Kohli chipped in with 54 runs off 63 deliveries. Mitchell Starc was the pick of the Australian bowlers, claiming 3/55, while Pat Cummins and Josh Hazlewood picked up two wickets each.
In reply, Australia's chase was spearheaded by a stunning batting display from Travis Head. Head scored an unbeaten 137 runs off 120 balls riding on four sixes and 15 boundaries. He forged a crucial 192-run partnership for the fourth wicket with Marnus Labuschagne (58 off 110), rescuing Australia from a precarious 47/3 to a commanding victory.
