ICC has named India's premium pacer Jasprit Bumrah as the Player of the Month for June following his astonishing heroics in the recently concluded T20 World Cup 2024. The lethal speedster claimed 15 wickets in the mega tournament and even won the Player of the Tournament award for his performance and contribution to the Men in Blue side's successful campaign to end their 11-year-long ICC trophy drought. He bowled with a stunning average of 8.26 and an unbelievable economy of 4.17.

Bumrah edged out Rohit Sharma and Rahmanullah Gurbaz, who were the other two contenders on the list. He also thanked his family for their unwavering support and also presided the other two candidates.

"I am delighted to be named the ICC Men’s Player of the Month for June. It’s a special honour for me following a memorable few weeks spent in the USA and West Indies. We have had a lot to celebrate as a team, and I’m delighted to be able to add this personal accolade to the list. To perform as well as we did at the tournament and lift the trophy at the end is incredibly special, and I will carry those memories with me forever," ICC quoted Jasprit Bumrah.
"I wish to congratulate my captain Rohit Sharma and Rahmanullah Gurbaz for their excellent performances in the same period, and I am humbled to have been chosen as the winner. Finally, I want to thank my family, all of my teammates and coaches as well as the fans wo have voted for me. Their support pushes me to compete at the best of my ability in national colours," he added.
Bumrah turns down retirement
After recent T20I retirement announcements from Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, and Ravindra Jadeja, Bumrah was also asked about his retirement during the ceremony in Wankhede. He turned it down and said it is still far away.
“My retirement is far far away, I've just started,” Bumrah said during India's felicitation ceremony.
