After put to bat first USA faced early setbacks when Arshdeep Singh claimed two wickets in the opening over, giving India an early advantage. Despite the initial challenges, Steven Taylor battled hard to stabilize USA's innings.
Opener Steven Taylor had a slow start to his innings. However, he managed to find his rhythm and struck some impressive shots throughout his time at the crease. But one particular moment stole the spotlight during the match.

Taylor's six injures security official
During the 9th over, Shivam Dube bowled a short delivery. Taylor capitalised on this by opening his body position and playing a powerful pull shot over mid-wicket. The ball soared a massive 77 metre for a six. However, the most eye-catching aspect of this shot was its unintended consequence. The powerful hit struck a security official right on the chest at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York. However he perished after scoring 24 off 30 balls in the 12th over.
The USA started strong with 42 runs in the first 10 overs, thanks to key contributions from Nitish Kumar (27), Steven Taylor (24), and Corey Anderson (15). They piled on another 68 runs in the remaining overs. India kept the pressure on throughout the innings, restricting the co-hosts, United States of America, to a modest total in their Group A clash. Arshdeep Singh spearheaded the bowling attack with a career-defining performance, claiming an impressive 4 wickets for just 9 runs. The American batters, who had shown fighting spirit in previous wins, struggled against India's superior pace attack.
Earlier, India won the toss and elected to bowl first and kept the same playing XI that they played in their winning cause against Pakistan.
India captain Rohit Sharma after winning the toss, said:
“We will bowl first. It has played better in the last two games, but you need to assess the conditions quickly and then let the game take over. It's all about constantly getting better and keeping the momentum going. It's important to do the right things. That was a great game to play, we didn't have enough runs on the board, but the bowlers came to the party and won the game for us. We're playing the same team”.
Meanwhile, USA captain Aaron Jones after losing the toss, said:
“We would have bowled first as well, there's some help for the bowlers early. He's having a niggle and should be back quickly. It should be a good game and we're looking to play well. The camp is very positive, just looking to play some good cricket. Shayan Jahangir replaces Monank and Shadley is in for Nosthush”.
