Virat Kohli is yet to score a half-century in the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024.

Skipper Rohit Sharma and head coach Rahul Dravid have backed Kohli to perform in the final.

India's swashbuckling batter Virat Kohli has struggled for form in the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024. Kohli has scored just 75 runs from seven innings as opener in the ongoing edition including two ducks. However, Kohli has been backed by many to score big in the T20 World Cup 2024 final against South Africa. Ahead of the final clash at Kensington Oval, Barbados, the International Cricket Council (ICC) shared a post on their Instagram handle with caption: “The last jewel remains missing from the crown of the king”.

Broad reacted to the post and wrote "IPL?" as the 35-year-old has not won the trophy despite playing in 17 Indian Premier League (IPL) seasons.

Meanwhile, Indian skipper Rohit Sharma has also backed his opening partner Kohli to perform well in the final.

“(Kohli) We understand his class. Form is never a problem when you've played for 15 years. Probably saving for the final,” Rohit said at the post-match presentation after India’s comfortable victory over defending champions England in Guyana.

Dravid on Kohli’s dismissal in semifinal

India head coach Rahul Dravid also backed Kohli and considered his dismissal to Reece Topley as unlucky.

“You know with Virat, the thing is, when you play a slightly high risk brand of cricket there can be times when it doesn't come off. Even today, I thought he hit a really good 6 to set the tempo but he was just unlucky that the ball seamed a little bit more. But I love the intent, I love the way he went about doing it. It sets a good example for the group as well if he's willing to do it. And you know, for some reason, I don't want to jinx it but I think there's a big one coming up. I'm just loving his attitude and that he's committing himself on the field - I think he deserves it,” said Dravid on Star Sports.

Kohli’s record vs South Africa

Kohli has had a decent record against the Proteas in his T20I career. He has scored 318 runs from 12 innings at an average of 35.33 including two fifties.
