The match between India and Pakistan is always one of the most high-octane and much-awaited clashes. As both teams only compete in Asia Cup and ICC tournaments, the buzz around the match is always higher than before. On June 9, The arch-rivals will once again collide against each other in their group stage match of the upcoming edition of the T20 World Cup 2024. However, there is some bad news coming from the United States as New York Governor Kathy Hochul has revealed that there are reports of terrorist attack threats on the big match.
New York Governor to increase security
Kathy Hochul said that there is no credible threat as of now but the government has ordered the New York State Police Department to increase their security and monitor all events nearby to keep everyone safe.
"In preparation for the @cricketworldcup, my team has been working with federal & local law enforcement to keep attendees safe. While there is no credible threat at this time, I’ve directed @nyspolice to elevate security measures & we’ll continue to monitor as the event nears," New York Governor Kathy Hochul tweeted.

New York commissioner speaks on security
"When you've got a game and a crowd as big as this, everything is credible. We will go through every fine detail when it comes to the security and safety of the residents here in Nassau County. I can guarantee you this is the largest security we've ever had to do in this county's history, and I can also guarantee you the safest place to be in Nassau County on June 9 will be inside that stadium," said Police Commissioner Patrick Ryder on CBS News.
Ryder also revealed that they have been preparing for this event for the past six months and their preparations are up to mark. He even told about some of the safety protocols.
- Eisenhower Park will be closed from 6:30 a.m. to roughly 6 p.m. Police will reopen the area once fans leave for the day.
- Spectators will have to go through metal detectors to enter the stadium grounds.
- No bags or drones are allowed inside or overhead.
- Parking at Eisenhower Park will be limited to VIP ticket holders. Other spectators should park near the Nassau Coliseum, about a half mile away. There will also be designated rideshare drop-off and pick-up locations.
