What if India lose to Australia?

With two one-sided wins at Super 8 stage, India are on top of Group 1 with a net run rate (NRR) of 2.425. If Australia beat India, then NRR will come into play. If the margin of defeat is not high, India will still play England as they will finish at the top of Group 1 with superior NRR. If India's NRR takes a massive hit, they will face South Africa in their semifinal clash. However, irrespective of whether they finish first and second on points table, Rohit Sharma-led side will play the semifinal at Providence Stadium, Guyana on June 27.

Can India get knocked out of T20 World Cup 2024?

There are slim chances of India not making it to the semifinals as they are in tremendous form of late in all departments of the game. Australia will have to beat India by a big margin and then Afghanistan have to do the same against Bangladesh to challenge India’s semifinal spot. In this case, Australia and Afghanistan will progress to the last four with a better NRR. However, the chances of it happening are very low.
