After a successful culmination of the Women's U-19 T20 World Cup, cricket fans around the world are now gearing up to witness the eighth edition of the ICC Women's T20 World Cup, which is scheduled to be played in South Africa. The multi-national tournament will begin on February 10, 2023, with the final slated to be played on February 26, 2023. The marquee competition will be staged across three venues - Cape Town, Paarl and Gqeberha - in South Africa.

A total of 10 teams have been divided into two groups of five teams each. India have been placed in Group 2 along with England, West Indies, Pakistan and Ireland while defending champions Australia are placed in Group 1 alongside New Zealand, South Africa, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh. The top two teams in each group will qualify for the semi-finals.

Ahead of the multi-national tournament, let's take a look at the highest score registered in the ICC women's T20 World Cup.

If we look at the history of the ICC Women's T20 World Cup, the first edition of the tournament was played in 2009. But it was during the seventh edition of the competition when South Africa registered the highest team total of the Women's T20 World Cup.

Record-setter South Africa

The seventh edition of the women's T20 World Cup took place in Australia and the hosts won the title. South Africa set a new bar during the match against debutants Thailand in 2020. The Proteas batters scored a mammoth score of 195/3 in 20 overs in Canberra on February 28, 2020. Opening batter Lizelle Lee played a major role behind South Africa notching the highest score at the women's T20 World Cup. Lee smashed 101 runs in 60 balls with the help of 16 fours and three sixes.

Playing in their first match at the T20 World Cup, Thailand's batters succumbed under pressure and could only score 82 runs and South Africa won the game by 113 runs.
