The marquee Women's T20 World Cup 2023 will be played across three stadiums in South Africa while the summit clash of the tournament will be played on February 26. Harmanpreet Kaur and Co. are looking upbeat about the showpiece event but the latest defeat against Australia in the warm-up match might have given them a wake up call just before the slugfest started. India's Women's T20 World Cup 2023 tournament opener on February 12 will be a high-octane clash where they will be up against their arch-rivals Pakistan.
 

India-Pakistan's slugfest

The arch-nemesis India and Pakistan women's teams will kick off their Women's T20 World Cup 2023 campaign in a Group B clash on February 12. The high-octane clash will be played at Newlands Cape Town from 6:30 pm IST. As far as India-Pakistan's women's T20 World Cup's head-to-head clashes are concerned, Harmanpreet-led Team India has the upper hand. So far six matches have been played between the two neighbouring nations, in which India have won four while Pakistan emerged victorious just twice. While if we talk about the T20I format, both the teams have played 13 matches so far in which the Indian women's team has won 10 while Pakistan have won just three matches.

 

Trophy awaits
This will be the eighth edition of the Women's T20 World Cup as for the first time ever South Africa will be hosting the marquee tournament which will see 10 teams battling out for the coveted glory. All eyes will be on the defending champions Australia who will be favourites in the title race. On the other hand, another star-studded side India will look to avenge their 2020 World Cup final loss to Australia and emerge victorious this time around to end their ICC trophy drought. The Women's T20 World Cup 2023 will see a total of 23 matches being played where 10 teams will be divided into two groups of five and each team will face each team of their respective group in single round-robin format with the top two teams progressing to the knock-out round.

 

Women's T20 WC 2023 teams are divided into two groups:

Group 1: Australia, Bangladesh, New Zealand, South Africa, Sri Lanka

Group 2: England, India, Ireland, Pakistan, West Indies
