The clash between India and Pakistan in the Women's ODI World Cup in October 2025 has officially been declared the most-watched women's international cricket match of all time, according to the International Cricket Council (ICC). The high-stakes encounter, which saw India defeat Pakistan by 88 runs at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo, achieved record-breaking viewership numbers, a reach of 28.4 million and 1.87 billion minutes consumed.

The match also set significant television records, becoming the highest-rated league stage match in the history of the ICC Women's ODI World Cup. Furthermore, the India vs. Australia match played on October 12 in Visakhapatnam set another all-time high for women's cricket by recording 4.8 million peak concurrent viewers on JioCinema.

The first 11 matches of the tournament have delivered massive growth in viewership compared to the previous edition. These games, which notably included India's high-profile encounters against Sri Lanka, Pakistan, and South Africa, achieved a combined reach of 72 million viewers, marking a significant 166% increase. Furthermore, total viewing minutes have seen an even more staggering rise, increasing by 327% to a massive 6.3 billion consumed minutes.

 

"The first 11 matches, including India's matches against Sri Lanka, Pakistan and South Africa, delivered a reach of 72 million, marking a 166 percent increase from the previous edition. Viewing minutes surged 327 percent to 6.3 billion, underscoring the growing emotional investment of fans," ICC said in its statement.

"The first 13 matches of the tournament have already reached over 60 million viewers, a five-fold increase over the 2022 edition, while total watch time has hit 7 billion minutes, up 12 times from the previous tournament," the statement further added.

The tournament is receiving extensive coverage across Star Sports channels and JioCinema in five different languages, English, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, and Kannada. In a move toward inclusive access, coverage is also being provided in Indian Sign Language. Viewers are benefiting from broadcast innovations such as multi-camera angles and the Max View feature available on the live streaming platform.

Meanwhile, hosts India, under the captaincy of Harmanpreet Kaur, currently hold the fourth position in the points table with four points from as many games. To stay in contention for a spot in the semi-finals, they must secure victories in all of their remaining league matches against England, New Zealand, and Bangladesh.
