India cricketing legend Yuvraj Singh was recently in Mumbai for the Women's ODI World Cup unveiling event, where he motivated the Harmanpreet Kaur-led side for the marquee event, which is scheduled to start from September 30 with India and Sri Lanka as hosts.
Yuvraj, who is known for his sharp wit and playful banter, recently left fans in splits with a hilarious comment about a person resembling Indian star player Rohit Sharma. The incident happened when Yuvraj came across someone whose facial features bore a striking similarity to the star opener, prompting him to deliver a classic one-liner in his trademark style. The clip of the incident went viral on the social sphere. Here is the video.
Looking at the Rohit Sharma lookalike, Yuvraj quipped, "Sharma ji ke bete. Woh (Rohit) tereko dekhega na, itna marega na tereko woh, itna marega na woh." The lighthearted remark, loosely translating to “Sharma ji’s son. If Rohit sees you, he’ll beat you up so much,” had everyone around breaking into laughter.
Coming back to the Women's ODI World Cup, Yuvraj Singh advised the Harmanpreet Kaur-led side to keep faith in their experience, and every player must believe that they can win matches for the country individually.
“(I would say) play the situation and not the expectation and be in the moment,” Yuvraj Singh said here at the trophy tour unveiling ceremony for the ODI World Cup.
“It’s a great opportunity to create history. But that doesn’t mean that from the start point you are thinking of winning it. You have to experience the whole enigma of it. You have to feel that you have put in the process, and results will come. But if you want to win the World Cup, you will be under pressure, things won’t go well, and that’s when experience and self-belief have to take over. You have to believe that you want to win the game for your country (on) that day,” added Yuvraj, India’s player of the tournament in the 2011 World Cup.
India will Women's ODI World Cup opener clash against Sri Lanka at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. The high-voltage clash between India and Pakistan will take place on October 5.
