Avishkar Salvi provided a big injury upadet on Richa

India bowling coach Avishkar Salvi provided an injury update on wicketkeeper-batter Richa Ghosh ahead of the side's final league stage game of the Women's World Cup against Bangladesh. Notably, Richa had sustained a finger injury during the Women in Blue's previous match in the tournament against New Zealand.

Richa had hurt her left arm while trying to collect a wide deliver from Renuka Singh. Though she did keep the wickets for some time after the injury, she was eventually taken off the field and was replaced by Uma Chetry as the wicketkeeping substitute.

Now, Salvi has provided a big injury update on Richa and has revealed that even though she seems to be fine, she is still being monitored by the medical team. He further remarked that her hand looks to be in good condition as of current.

“Richa is fine. The medical team is monitoring her, but she looks good,” Salvi said in the pre-match press conference.

Salvi's take on India's bowling attack

On the other hand, Salvi highlighted how the Indian bowling attack needs to improve their performance in the coming matches, but also expressed faith in their hard work and committment.

“In one match, we defended 330; in another, we couldn’t defend 251. After that, we bounced back strongly in the 288 game. If I analyze it phase-wise — in the powerplay and middle overs, we’ve been good. There were a few execution errors, which we identified and have been working on in the nets,” Salvi stated.

“In the slog overs, we still want to improve. It’s a young bowling attack, and they’re eager to learn every day. The dew makes the ball wet at times, but there are no excuses — the girls are working hard to get better,” he added.

India to face Australia in the semis

Meanwhile, India booked their place in the semi-finals of the World Cup with their victory against New Zealand in the previous match. Following their clash against Bangladesh on Sunday, the Women in Blue will be locking horns against defending champions Australia in the last 4 stage. The match will be held on October 30 at the D.Y. Patil Sports Academy in Navi Mumbai.
