Former India captain Sunil Gavaskar lavished praise on Virat Kohli as the India star started smashing the nets soon after Rohit Sharma-led side lost the pink-ball Test against Australia. Kohli who was the centurion in the last Test match got cheaply dismissed in both innings of the second Test played in Adelaide.
India's batting great just scored of 7 and 11 across both the innings as Australia outclassed India by 10 wickets. Soon after India's loss in the second Test match, Kohli wasted no time getting ready for the Brisbane Test as he stepped into the nets to get ready.
While having a chat with broadcasters Gavaskar said that wants to see such dedication from the whole team.
"By going out in the nets today, shows his dedication. But that is what I would like to see from everybody else. He's not scored runs. He is very proud of what he achieves and does for India, and because he's not scored runs in this game, he's out in the nets."
"He's working hard, he's sweating, and that is what you want to see. After that if you get out, no problem, because that's what sport is all about. You will get runs one day, will get wickets one day, next day you will not. But you've got to put in the effort. He is putting in the hard yards, he is putting in the effort, and that's why I won't be surprised if he's back amongst the runs in the next game," said Gavaskar.
Kohli smashed an unbeaten century in the first Test match in Adelaide where Men in Blue defeated Australia by 295 runs. Before that, the former India captain failed to score big in the longest format of the game. Kohli has just scored 373 runs in his eight Test outings this year.
India and Australia will now play the third Test match of the five Test match series which will start from December 14 at The Gabba. India needs to win their remaining matches of the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2025 to seal their spot in the World Test Championship (WTC) final which is scheduled to take place next year in England.
