'There is no need to...': Kapil Dev advises Team India ahead of Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 series

Shubman Gill and Rohit Sharma will likely to miss Perth Test.

As per reports from ESPNcricinfo, Indian skipper Rohit Sharma and opener Shubman Gill are set to miss the first Test against Australia in Perth. Rohit remained at home to be with his family for the birth of his second child and is expected to join the team before the second Test, starting on December 4 in Adelaide.

On the other hand, Gill sustained a left-hand injury while fielding in the slips during an intra-squad match and did not return to the field on the second day.

Speaking to the reporters, Kapil Dev wished Team India luck ahead of the series. He asked India not to listen much and to express themselves.

"...I just want to wish my team all the luck. Don't listen much, go and express yourself. Those who will play well will win. There is no need to take excess pressure," Kapil Dev told reporters.

 

The highly anticipated Border-Gavaskar series between India and Australia is set to kick off on November 22 with the opening Test in Perth.

The second Test, taking place from December 6 to 10 at Adelaide Oval, will feature the thrilling day-night format under the floodlights. Following this, the action will shift to Brisbane's Gabba for the third Test, scheduled from December 14 to 18.

The traditional Boxing Day Test will be held at the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground from December 26 to 30, marking the series' penultimate chapter.

The fifth and final Test is slated for January 3 to 7 at the Sydney Cricket Ground, where the series is expected to conclude in a captivating finale.
