Following yet another breakdown on Day 3 of the third Test match against Australia at the Gabba in Brisbane, former Indian cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar has questioned the function of a batting coach in the Indian squad. Notably, Australia cut India to 48/4 when Rishabh Pant, Virat Kohli, Shubman Gill, and Yashasvi Jaiswal were dismissed on low scores.

Manjrekar has questioned the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on the batting coach's role within the Indian staff in the wake of India's disaster. The former batter stated that the management must take responsibility because significant technical problems with the Indian batting have gone unfixed for far too long.

"I guess the time has come to scrutinise the role of a batting coach in the Indian team. Why major technical issues have remained unresolved for so long with certain Indian batters. @BCCI,” wrote Manjrekar from his official X account formerly known as Twitter.

India's batting struggles continue

Except for the second innings in Perth, Indian batting has failed to reach the 200-run milestone during the current trip, leaving them looking in ruins. India's technical shortcomings have been exposed thus far with scores of 150, 487/6, 180, and 175 in the four innings.

On Day 3, Mitchell Starc returned to action and once again gave Australia a great start by forcing Yashasvi Jaiswal to hit to Mitchell Marsh at mid-wicket with the second delivery of the innings. As he pursued a wide delivery from Starc that found his thick outside edge, Shubman Gill also left cheaply. Mitchell Marsh made an amazing grab leaping to his left as the ball flew towards the slips.

In the first session, Australia made yet another significant breakthrough when Josh Hazlewood exposed Virat Kohli's weakness outside off stump once again. As he discovered his edge, Pat Cummins also fired Rishabh Pant for the third time in the series. Earlier, Jasprit Bumrah finished with statistics of 6/76 in 28 overs, while Alex Carey's 70 helped lead Australia to 455 in their first innings.
