Harmanpreet Kaur-led Indian women's cricket team is set to tour South Africa in December 2026 for a multi-format tour, as confirmed by Cricket South Africa. The series will feature three One Day Internationals (ODIs) followed by a single Test match. The ODI series is slated to kick off on December 9 later this year.
India women to tour South Africa in December for Test, ODI series
This tour holds particular competitive intrigue as it will be the first time the two nations have met since India defeated South Africa to claim the world championship title in November 2025. Following the white-ball leg of the tour, the focus will shift to the longest format with a Test match held in Gqeberha from December 20 to 23. This fixture marks a rare occasion for the two sides, serving as only their fourth meeting in Test cricket history.
"The Proteas will face India in a three-match ICC Women’s Championship (IWC) ODI series from 09–15 December, with the JB Marks Oval in Potchefstroom hosting the series opener before Mangaung Oval in Bloemfontein and the Newlands Cricket Ground stage the second and third matches," CSA said in a statement.
The ODI leg of India's tour is scheduled to take place from December 9 to 15, with matches hosted in Potchefstroom, Bloemfontein, and Cape Town. As part of the ICC Women’s Championship, these fixtures carry significant weight for tournament standings. To ensure the squad is well-prepared and acclimated to the local conditions, India will kick off their visit with a warm-up match against a South Africa Emerging side in Benoni on December 6.
The tour will culminate in a historic Test match at St George's Park from December 20 to 23. This fixture marks only the fourth time India and South Africa have met in the longest format and is just the second women's Test ever held at the venue. For Harmanpreet Kaur’s side, this will be their second Test appearance of 2026, following a challenging one-off match against Australia at the WACA in Perth, where they suffered a 10-wicket defeat.
