Fight for spot in WTC Final
In terms of the WTC final, the series is crucial for India. The loss to New Zealand set India back, even though they were clear favorites to make it to the final. Now, India must defeat Australia 4-0 in order to advance without relying on other outcomes. India would require England to draw at least one Test match in New Zealand if the score was 3-0, 3-1, or 4-1. India will require England to defeat New Zealand in at least one Test match if they win 2-0. England and Sri Lanka will need to defeat Australia and New Zealand in one Test each if India wins the series 3-2.
