England Cricket officially announced the addition of Surrey pacer Gus Atkinson to England's fold right after India crushed them by 336 runs at Edgbaston, Birmingham.

Talking about the third Test, India recorded a historic win against England by 336 runs in the second match. This win marked India's first ever at Edgbaston. Prior to this, the team had an unfavorable record at this venue, having played eight matches and lost seven. Their first encounter in Birmingham was in 1967, which resulted in a 132-run defeat. The only instance where they avoided a loss was in 1986, under the captaincy of Kapil Dev, when the match ended in a draw. This win also made India the first Asian team to win a Test match at Edgbaston. Previously, India, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka had collectively failed to secure a win in Birmingham across 18 attempts. Furthermore, this win stands as India's fourth-largest victory in terms of runs in all Test matches and their largest ever in an overseas Test.

Captain Shubman Gill was deservedly awarded the Player of the Match for his outstanding performance throughout the Test. He scored a total of 430 runs, including a remarkable 269 runs in the first innings, which is the highest individual score by an Indian captain in Test cricket.
