India wicketkeeper batter KL Rahul smashed a century in the first Test match of the Tendulkar-Anderson Trophy in England at the Yorkshire Cricket Ground in Leeds, England. The wicketkeeper batter who has been promoted as an opener after Rohit Sharma's Test retirement reached the 100-run mark on 202 balls. This was KL Rahul's ninth hundred in the whites.
KL Rahul's Test century against England in Leeds is his first Test century in almost two years. His last ton in whites came during India’s tour of South Africa in December 2023. The experienced batter notched up a fluent 101 off 137 balls in the opening Test of the two-match series against the Proteas.

KL Rahul, who came to open alongside Yashasvi Jaiswal in the second innings when India had a slight six-run lead. India were off to a bad start as the visitors lost an early wicket as Jaiswal departed in the fourth over. Later, KL was joined by Sai Sudharsan, and both batters managed to score 82 runs before Sai got out by Ben Stokes. After Sai's wicket, KL Rahul was joined by skipper Shubman Gill. At stumps, India reached 90 for two with Rahul (47 batting off 75) and Shubman Gill (6 batting off 10).
