Zak Crawley of England exchanges opinions with Shubman Gill of India during Day Three of the 3rd Rothesay Test Match between England and India at Lord's Cricket Ground on July 12, 2025 in London, England.

Story Highlights:

Mohammad Kaif indirectly blamed Shubman Gill for India's defeat in Lord's Test.

India vs England fourth Test will take place at Old Trafford Cricket Ground.

Former India cricketer Mohammad Kaif believes that Shubman Gill's on-field verbal spat with England opener Zak Crawley fired up Ben Stokes to bowl inspiring spells during the third Test match of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy 2025 at Lord's Stadium in London. India captain Shubman Gill was seen angry before the end of Day 3 of the third Test as Crawley and Ben Duckett were visibly wasting time to end the proceedings of the day.

The incident happened after England began their batting in the second innings, with enough time left in the day to complete two overs before stumps. However, openers Zak Crawley and Ben Duckett seemed like they were deliberately slowing the game down, prompting Gill to confront Crawley over the perceived gamesmanship.

"Shubman Gill's fight with Zak Crawley charged England. After Edgbaston, there were questions about their batting, bowling and captaincy. But that incident fired up Stokes and he bowled an inspiring spells. It is wise to stick to the attitude that works for you. Gill will learn this the hard way" wrote Mohammad Kaif.

Coming back to the third Test, Ravindra Jadeja's gritty half-century, along with the fragile tail, brought India back from the brink but fell heartbreakingly short in the face of England captain Ben Stokes' resolve, going down by 22 runs in the wildly fluctuating third Test. After defeating India in the third Test, England are currently leading 2-1 in the five-Test match series. The fourth Test match will take place from 23-27 July at Old Trafford Cricket Ground.
