Rishabh Pant left the field midway after getting injured in 4th Test vs England.

Shubman Gill-led India faced a major setback during the fourth Test against England when vice-captain Rishabh Pant sustained a toe injury. The incident happened in the 68th over on Day 1 at Emirates Old Trafford Stadium in Manchester while Pant was batting alongside Sai Sudharsan. At the time of the injury, Pant was on 37 runs and looking well-set.

Pant tried to play a premeditated reverse sweep and got hit flush on the boot. The bowler appealed for LBW, but he was not out. Meanwhile, the wicketkeeper batter was in a lot of pain after getting the blow. After getting injured, Pant was forced to leave the field via a cabby ambulance to the medical room at the venue.

While he was struggling with pain, blood was seen seeping off Pant's right foot, and the affected area had considerable swelling as well. After the end of Day 1, Shubman Gill's Gujarat Titans (GT) teammate revealed that Pant was in a lot of pain and he is currently in the hospital for further scans and if he won't be able to bat in this match then there will be a huge blow for the side but the rest of the batters are ready to do their part. BCCI also took their 'X' formerly known as Twitter to give an update on the wicketkeeper batter's injury.

"Rishabh Pant was hit on his right foot while batting on Day 1 of the Manchester Test. He was taken for scans from the stadium.  The BCCI Medical Team is monitoring his progress" BCCI wrote.

"Oh, he was in a lot of pain, and he's now at the hospital taking scans. We'll know about the update probably soon. If he's not coming back in this match, it's obviously a blow but the other batters are also ready to do their part" said Sai in post-day conference.

This is the second time Pant has got an injury in the ongoing Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy 2025; he earlier got injured while keeping wickets during the Lord's Test and left the field midway after handing over wicketkeeping duties to Dhruv Jurel.

Coming back to Day 1 of the Manchester Test, Shubman Gill-led India ended first day of the fourth Test against England at 264 for 4 at Emirates Old Trafford Stadium in Manchester, with the match swinging both ways. Sai Sudharsan made the most of his Test comeback by scoring a solid fifty. At stumps on Day 1, Ravindra Jadeja (19*) and Shardul Thakur (19*) were unbeaten at the crease, holding on under fading light.
