Story Highlights:

Ricky Ponting accused Yashasvi Jaiswal of wasting time on Day 3 of Oval Test

Jaiswal was involved in a heated exchange with Zak Crawley

Heated verbal exchanges between players from the two sides have become quite common in the ongoing Test series between India and England. This time it was Yashasvi Jaiswal, who was involved in a verbal; spat with Zak Crawley on the third day of Oval Test. The two were seen arguing while leaving the field after the end of the first session.

It all began when there was just a delivery left to go in the first session and Jaiswal, who was at the non-striker's end, started complaining to Shubman Gill about his hamstring. Though the batter was seen clutching his hamstring, the England team thought that he was trying to ensure that it was indeed the final over of the session and thus, both Crawley and Ollie Pope started to taunt him.

As the first session concluded and the players started walking-off the field, Jaiswal and Crawley were seen exchanging a few words. The Indian batter seemed to be quite angry with what Crawley had said to him and was even seen pointing his finger towards the England star. Gill then tried to calm down Jaiswal as both of them headed to the Indian dugout.

Ponting wasn't impressed with what he saw

Legendary Australia cricketer Ricky Ponting wasn't a fan of both Jaiswal and Crawley arguing but criticized the India star in particular for his 'time-wasting' tactics during the final over of the session.

"When things like this happen, and players start playing with the fabric of the game, it’s amazing how many times that game comes back to bite them. This is not acceptable,” Ponting said while commentating.

"And as you would expect, there is a bit going on here between these two teams and fair enough. I didn't like what I saw there with wasting time in that last over. Especially at the back of what happened at Lord's when India complained about what the English batters did," he added.

The knock included 14 boundaries and two sixes and saw the left-hander end the series with 411 runs under his belt from 10 innings.
