Irfan Pathan hailed Mohammed Siraj and Prasidh Krishna for sensational bowling display

Both Siraj and Krishna picked up four scalps each

Former India cricketer Irfan Pathan hailed the duo of Mohammed Siraj and Prasidh Krishna for their sensational bowling displays against England at The Oval. After getting bundled out nfor just 224 runs in their first innings, the Men in Blue required their bowlers to step up big time and restrict the hosts to a low total. Both Siraj and Krishna took up the responsibility in the absence of Jasprit Bumrah and bowled incredibly well to bowl out the Three Lions for 247 runs.

While Siraj recorded figures of 4/86, Krishna finished his 16-over spell with the figures of 4/62, massively helping the visitors in restricting England to a low first-inning total. The former was the standout bowler among the two, picking up the massive wickets of Ollie Pope, Joe Root, Harry Brook and Jacob Bethell. On the other hand, Krishna sent the likes of Zak Crawley, Jamie Smith, Jamie Overton and Gus Atkinson back to the pavilion.

Left highly impressed with the duo's performance with the ball, Pathan remarked that Siraj steps up his bowling whenever he leads the side in the department. He further stated that the 4-wicket haul will help Krishna in increasing his confidence quite a bit especially after the pacer had been hammered by England batters in both the Headingley and Edgbaston Tests.

"When you give the responsibility of leading the pack to Mohammed Siraj, he delivers differently. And those 4 wickets will do a world of good to Prasidh Krishna," Pathan posted on X.

Siraj reached a massive milestone

The 4-wicket haul saw Siraj not only surpass 200 wickets in international cricket, but also become the highest wicket-taker for India in the ongoing series against England. The seamer has so far picked up 18 scalps in 9 innings and will be looking to increase his tally further as he bowls for the final time in the series in England's second innings at The Oval.

Meanwhile, India wrapped up the second day of fifth Test on 75/2 with Yashasvi Jaiswal unbeaten on 51 and Akash Deep batting on 4. The latter was sent to the crease as a night-watchman so that they could preserve the wickets of their middle-order batters. It remains to be seen how things will develop on the much-anticipated third day of Oval Test.
