The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is set to have a review of the India men's senior cricket team's poor performances in the ongoing UK tour after series defeats to Ireland and England. From two consecutive T20 World Cup titles to historic series defeat to Ireland and trailing by 3-0 in England. BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia has expressed that he is 'deeply concerned' after India's five losses from six games and assured of a review with the new T20I captain Shreyas Iyer and head coach Gautam Gambhir in order to restore the team's dominance in the format.

"We are deeply concerned about the Indian team's performance, and once this series is over we will definitely have a review with the captain and coach to understand what is going wrong and will rectify the problems soon so we can regain our stature," Saikia told India Today.
Iyer performs with bat, not as captain, vice-captain struggles
Iyer is yet to register a win since taking over captaincy. However, he has managed to deliver with the bat, top-scoring with 190 runs from four innings featuring an unbeaten 80 in the fourth T20I.
Indian batters have struggled to adapt to the English conditions after T20 World Cup 2026 in India and the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026. From 76 all out to a nine-wicket loss, the tour has turned from bad to worse. The weakness to counter the short ball is visible as India’s allout attack approach has fallen flat on not-so-flat pitches of England.
While the captain has performed with the bat and not tactically, the vice-captain is yet to prove his mettle on the tour. Tilak Varma hasn’t done well in the middle order. On the Zimbabwe tour, he will face stiff competition from Rinku Singh who is making a comeback after getting dropped from the squad. Suryansh Shedge is another contender in the middle order.
No.1 T20I ranking at stake on July 11
After the series defeat, India still have a lot to play for in the fifth T20I on July 11. The win will help India retain the no.1 spot in the ICC T20I rankings. England captain Harry Brook has already said that he wants to make it 4-0 and dethrone India.
