England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has announced the addition of Brydon Carse to England's ODI squad for the ongoing series against India. This call-up marks a return for the 30-year-old bowler, who has been sidelined since sustaining wrist and elbow injuries just before 2026 Indian Premier League (IPL).

Brydon Carse added to England's ODI squad for series vs India
Carse's return breaks a lengthy absence from England's white-ball setups, with his last One Day International appearance dating back to November 2025 against New Zealand in Wellington. Over a five-year international career that has frequently been disrupted by fitness issues, the pacer has claimed 34 wickets across 30 ODIs at an average of 40.44. Beyond his primary role with the ball, Carse's proven lower-order batting capabilities offer the English team added tactical flexibility should he be selected in the playing XI for the remaining matches.

Brydon Carse’s return to competitive cricket via the T20 Blast with Durham provides a timely boost to England’s white-ball setups. His presence adds valuable depth and a distinct point of difference to an already versatile pace attack. Carse joins a diverse bowling pool that features specialist speedsters like Saqib Mahmood, Jofra Archer, and Josh Tongue, alongside handy seam-bowling all-rounders Sam Curran and Gus Atkinson. Supported by a spin department consisting of Adil Rashid, Rehan Ahmed, and James Coles, England looks well-equipped to handle varied match situations.
