'It's always fun batting together': Rohit Sharma hails special bond with Virat Kohli after Lord’s ODI

India endured a shameful ODI series loss against England, after facing 27-run loss in the third and final game on Monday, July 20 at the Lord's Cricket Ground in London. However, a lot of noise was around Rohit Sharma, as it was reported that the Lord's ODI could be his last international appearance.

Rohit Sharma makes remarkable comeback

Despite all the noise, Rohit responded to his critics with an amazing knock of 138 runs off 110 balls, hitting 17 fours and five sixes at a strike rate of 125.45. Notably, the Lord's ODI was the 400th game where the duo of Rohit and Virat Kohli played together. Together, they have played 234 ODIs, 106 T20Is and 60 Tests.

While speaking to the BCCI.tv after the game, the star India opener reflected on the on-field partnership with Virat Kohli, saying that both of them have batted a lot together throughout their individual careers and understand each other really well which plays a big role in their big partnerships.

"We've played our entire career together, so, you know, it was nice to have him in the middle. You know, we've had a lot of partnerships. It's always fun batting together. We understand each other so much," said Rohit.

"And yeah, it's always nice in the middle, bouncing off ideas, try and see what we can do. So there was a lot of conversation that was going around in between when we were batting," added Rohit.

RO-KO's brilliant stand in the third ODI

Fortunately, the duo also impressed with the bat at Lord's while chasing a big target of 388 runs in the second innings. Rohit Sharma contributed a blistering 71 off 48 balls, while Virat Kohli added 38 off 38 balls as their duo stitched a brilliant partnership of 113 runs for the second wicket in just 86 deliveries. The partnership put India at the driving seat before England staged an amazing comeback to secure the win and the series.

Individually, Rohit managed to amass 138 runs from 110 deliveries, including 117 fours and five sixes, while Kohli scored 74 runs off 60 balls, smashing four boundaries and three maximums.
