India opener KL Rahul is under heavy criticism as former India captain Sunil Gavaskar analysed his dismissal in the first session of the ongoing Cape Town Test. Rahul, India's stand-in captain for the second Test match in Cape Town was dismissed for 12 by Duanne Olivier in the 12th over. Gavaskar, in the lunchtime show directed at Rahul's foot movement while criticising him.

"I think he got a good delivery. Look, today I think every batsman is getting onto the front foot. If you have a look at the slow motion replays. Look how he is a tall man, he has already gone onto the front foot to a ball before it was bowled.

"So, then when you have a situation where you have to go on the back foot, you are not being able to use your crease. You are only thinking of front foot, not the back foot back. That can expose you just that little bit and that's what happened," the former World Cup winner said in his analysis.

Playing on the back foot has been an issue for the Indian team throughout the tour. The Indian team has welcomed back their skipper Virat Kohli after he missed the second Test. The heavy reliance on KL Rahul has given the Indian team a reality check as they lost too many wickets for comfort on Day 1 of the decider.

Earlier, India captain Kohli had won the toss and chose to bat first. Alongside the 33-year-old, Umesh Yadav was brought back into the squad in place of injured Mohammed Siraj. Ishant Sharma missed out on another opportunity to go past Zaheer Khan's tally of 311 wickets despite being more experienced than Umesh. The series is currently tied at 1-1, as India looks to win their first series in the Rainbow Nation. India have never won a Test match at Newlands, Cape Town as a piece of history still beckons for Kohli and his army.
