Rohit Sharma, ahead of the ODI series against Sri Lanka, delivered a special message to all the Indian cricket fans. The series will mark his return to international cricket after the historic T20 World Cup 2024 win. Along with him, Virat Kohli will also return to the ODI scene with a three-match series against Sri Lanka in Sri Colombo. This marks their (RO-Ko) first ODI appearance in eight months, making the occasion particularly significant. Since their last appearance, momentary changes have taken place in Indian cricket. Suryakumar Yadav has stepped in as the new T20I captain and successor of Rohit Sharma in the shortest format of the game in International cricket, and Gautam Gambhir has taken over as the new India head coach.
Rohit's special message
BCCI posted a video from their official 'X' account formerly known as Twitter. Rohit’s special message was the voice of the clip that captured the happiest moments after the WC win. From the captain’s shoot with the trophy in Barbados to the iconic victory parade near Marine Drive to the recently held net practice of the team along with new team management and Gautam Gambhir, the video signified a new dawn for Indian cricket.

“Wow, what a month it was. Maza hee agaya. Flooded with memories, etched in history. A moment like this, which will stay with us forever. So much so that I feel I can put my pads on anytime for the shortest format. Nahi yar, choro bhai. I had my time. I enjoyed it, and it's time to move on," Rohit said in the BCCI video expressing his emotions.
The right-hand batter also talked about the new start the team will take under the new head coach and he is looking forward for that partnership.
“It's time for us to get back on the field with the start of a new era. A new start with a new coach. A partnership that is going to hold Indian cricket as paramount. It's time to hit the reset button. It's time for us to get back on to the field. With the same energy and same enthusiasm, team India will get on to the field with some new and some old faces. This is team India and this is your captain Rohit Sharma speaking. Let's go" the 37-year-old added.
