India's ace spinner Yuzvendra Chahal has drawn parallels between the captaincy styles of Hardik Pandya and MS Dhoni. Chahal said that Hardik, like Dhoni, gives his bowlers ample freedom. Chahal shared these insights in the lead-up to the second T20I between India and West Indies on August 6 (Sunday).

When questioned about the evolving captaincy in Indian cricket and the varying styles of the leaders, Chahal equated the experience to playing under four siblings, with MS Dhoni being the senior-most.

"I see it this way - You have four brothers in your family. Badey bhai they Mahi bhai (MS Dhoni - the eldest brother), then came Virat, Rohit and now Hardik. The equation remains the same. Nothing changes. On the ground, everyone wants their team to win. He gives us freedom as a bowler. The same freedom we used to receive, Hardik is giving us now. We (bowlers) can set our own field," Chahal said at the pre-match press conference.

Focusing on Hardik Pandya's leadership, Chahal expressed that the all-rounder offers his input only when the bowler's strategy isn't yielding desired results.

"Even Hardik is a go-to bowler; if the plan doesn't work, he provides his own input. So, there are not any wholesome changes when it comes to leadership. The bowler (At Team India) always receives the freedom he needs from his captain," Chahal added.

The second T20I between India and West Indies will be held in Guyana on August 6 (Sunday). In the first match, the Indian team fell short in their chase of 150 runs against Rovman Powell's company. A victory against India would considerably uplift the spirits of the West Indies, who have faced consecutive eliminations from World Cups in different formats.
