Torrential rains played party-poopers for Team India on July 24 (Monday) in Trinidad. Day 5 of the second Test match between India and West Indies was washed out without a ball being bowled and, thus, the visitors were denied the chance to whitewash the hosts in the two-match Test series. Nonetheless, Rohit Sharma-led India secured the series and the trophy by emerging victorious by a margin of 1-0.

Indian batters led by skipper Rohit enjoyed a field day against a toothless Windies bowling attack in the recently-concluded series. The Hitman scored a century and two half-centuries in the three innings he batted in the series.

Former India wicket-keeper and national selector Saba Karim was impressed with Rohit's batsmanship and leadership on display in the recently-concluded series.

"In the first Test, the wicket was not easy to bat and Rohit got a hundred. Some of his decisions, bringing Ishan Kishan in the mix and all these showed that Rohit wants to win this time around," said Karim on Jio Cinema.

Mohammed Siraj was awarded the Man of the Series award as the pacer bowled with good venom and aggression, picking plenty of wickets including a five-wicket haul. Karim reckons that he would have rather given the Man of the Series award to the Indian captain.

"But I would go with Rohit because this was a fresh WTC cycle and he had to lead from the front. The intensity and the aggression he showed sent a strong message to the rest of the side that this is the way you want to take it forward," he added.

India and West Indies will now lock horns in a three-match ODI series before crossing swords in a five-match T20I series. The ODI series is scheduled to begin on July 27.
