Rajasthan Royals (RR) star leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal has climbed to the second spot in the Purple Cap race after taking a wicket against the Mumbai Indians (MI) on April 22. Chahal has replaced Punjab Kings' (PBKS) bowler Harshal Patel, who entered the contention with a three-wicket haul against the Gujarat Titans (GT).
However, Mumbai Indians' (MI) star pacer Jasprit Bumrah, remains at the top with 13 wickets, despite going wicketless against RR on April 22. Jasprit Bumrah also boasts an economy of 6.37.

Jasprit Bumrah (MI)
The Indian star pacer continues to dominate with his world-class bowling and yorkers. Jasprit Bumrah has claimed 13 wickets from just seven matches, with an exceptional economy of 6.37. He also achieved a five-wicket haul against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) on April 11.
Yuzvendra Chahal (RR)
RR’s frontline spinner, Yuzvendra Chahal, has been a trouble for batters with his spin mastery. Chahal has grabbed 13 wickets from eight matches, with an economy of 8.83. He has also become the first bowler to take 200 wickets in IPL history, remaining the only spinner in contention for the Purple Cap.
Harshal Patel (PBKS)
Harshal Patel now occupies the third spot, standing alongside Chahal and Bumrah with 13 wickets from eight matches. However, he has an economy of 9.58. Patel won the Purple Cap in 2021 for taking 32 wickets from 15 matches.
Gerald Coetzee (MI)
The young pacer from South Africa finds himself in the fourth spot, having taken 12 wickets from eight matches. However, his economy stands at 10.10.
Sam Curran (PBKS)
The England all-rounder, Sam Curran, remains in contention with 11 wickets from eight matches and an economy of 8.79. Recently, he picked one wicket and conceded only 18 runs from two overs against GT on April 21.
